A New Zealand oral-probiotics brand needed a clearer route into China's consumer market. Frontier Marketer connected audience research, focused positioning, creator content and paid distribution to build a more coordinated acquisition programme.
Project at a glance
Client: BLIS Probiotics
Category: Oral probiotics and consumer wellness
Market: China
Scope: Market research, audience positioning, creator partnerships, Xiaohongshu operations, paid amplification and campaign workflows
Frontier's role: Strategy and execution across the content-to-commerce journey
The challenge
BLIS had been operating in China for approximately 11 months, but the company presentation describes monthly sales remaining at around 20 units despite investment in content and advertising. Its positioning addressed too broad an audience, while product benefits were spread across several messages.
As an overseas entrant, the brand also needed to establish local familiarity and trust. More content alone would not resolve a weak connection between the audience, the message and the path to purchase.
Our insight & strategy
Frontier's assessment was that the immediate constraint was the market-entry approach rather than the product itself. The strategy narrowed the audience to families concerned about children's oral health and related care needs, giving the campaign a more specific context for communication.
The programme combined New Zealand provenance and research-led brand positioning with locally relevant creator content. This positioning describes the marketing approach; it should not be read as a clinical claim about product efficacy.
What we delivered
Audience and positioning work
Market and user analysis informed a clearer priority audience, a more focused product story and a defined route into the category.
Cross-market trust building
New Zealand-based creators supported origin storytelling, while China-based creators helped introduce the brand through content relevant to local consumers.
Content, distribution and commerce
Frontier connected Xiaohongshu account operations, creator seeding and paid amplification. The work included Juguang advertising and paid amplification of selected creator posts through Shutiao, supporting the path from discovery to the brand's Tmall store.
Repeatable campaign operations
Content production and campaign delivery were organised into standardised workflows, creating a basis for reviewing performance and extending effective activity.
Results & evidence
The company presentation reports that campaign ROI exceeded 2 within three months. It also describes increased Tmall sales and the establishment of an ongoing Xiaohongshu content programme.
The ROI figure is reported in Frontier Marketer's company presentation; a calculation breakdown is not included.
What made the difference
Focused positioning before amplification. Research shaped who the campaign addressed and which product story it prioritised.
Trust built across two markets. New Zealand provenance and China-based creator communication played complementary roles.
Connected execution. Content, account operations, paid media and ecommerce were managed as parts of the same acquisition journey.
